The following are tourist attractions at Kanchanaburi.

The Bridge Over the River Kwai
Internationally famous bridge, as part of the Death Railway linking Thailand with Myanmar, was built by
Allied prisoner of war labour under Japanese Supervision in the World War Two. The bridge, which spans the Kwai Yai River at thamakham Sub - District, far from TAT about 5 kms.

Kanchanaburi War Cemetery
The cemetery contains the remains of 6,982 Allied prisoners of war who perished during the construction
of the "Death Railway". It’s on Saengchuto Road, opposite the Railway Station, far from TAT office about 1.5 kms., open daily from 08.30-18.00

Jeath War Museum
Situated about 500 metres from TAT office in the area of Chai Chumphon Temple. The bamboo hut has
been constructed in the form of a prisoner of war camp, contains photographic, pictorial and physical memorabilia dating from the World War Two. Open daily from 08.30-17.30, admission fee is 30 baht per
person.

Muang Sing Historical Park
This ancient site is 43 kms from town by Kanchanaburi - Saiyoke Road (323) And turn left 7 kms at the
km. Marker 15. "Prasat Muang Sing", Historical Park being renovated by the Fine Art Department to
display the Khmer influenced architecture toward this part of thailand during the late Lopburi period
some 700 - 800 years ago.

Sai Yok Noi Waterfall
Also known as Khao Phang Waterfall, 52 Km. from town, During the rainy season (July - October) is the
most beautiful and the best period to visit this waterfall. Daily train trips from Bangkok to Nam Tok Train Station are served.

Sai Yok Yai Waterfall
This flows directly into the Kwai Noi River, and is the most popular attraction in Sai Yok National Park.
Its idyllic beauty has been repeatedly celebrated in Thai poetry and song.

Kra Sae Cave
Close to the Kanchanaburi-Namtok Railway and Kwai Noi River, this cave houses a sacred Buddha image and a part of the "Death Railway". It’s 55 kms out of town.

Lava Cave
About 75 kms away from the city and about 50 metres from the riverside of Kwai Noi. Boat trip can be
hired from Paksaeng pier or going by car across the bridge at Ban Kaengraboed. It’s the biggest interesting cave of the area, the stalactites and stalagmites are so wonderful and speculiar by nature
creation.

Hellfire Pass
A part of the Death Railway cut through the stone mountain during the World War Two. It is located near km. Marker 66 on Saiyoke - Thongphaphum Rod (323), about 80 kms from the city. There are walking trail and also a museum displayed to commemorate the unforgettable history of the World War Two. Open daily from 09.00 - 16.00

Erawan Waterfall
About 65 kms from Kanchanaburi - Sri Sawat Road (3199). The 7-tiered waterfall, widely regarded as one
of Thailand’s loveliest cascades, is in the area of the Erawan National Park and good for trekking.

Sri Nakarin Dam
70 Km. from Kanchanaburi, and just 4 Km. north of the Erawan National Park, this massive structure
marks the southernmost extremity of an extensive reservoir, which is part of yet another national park. Above the dam site, there is a beautiful wide lake with natural surroundings and good for fishing.

Mon Bridge
This is the longest wooden bridge in Thailand, linking Sangkhlaburi with Mon villages. The bridge
overlooks a scenic landscape and offers an opportunity to see the way of life of the local people.
It was built for comfortable transportation of people living in Sangkhlaburi and Mon Village.

Three Pagoda Pass
240 kms out of the city and 22 kms from Sangkhlaburi, the three miniature pagodas are memorials of an
important route of the troops during the war time of the Ayutthaya period. It also marks the rugged Thai-
Myanmar border and is the site of a small thriving border market. Visitors are allowed to enter Myanmar but
foreigners cannot get stamp or extend new visa.

How to get there 
By car

Get along Phetchakasem Road or Barom Ratchachonnanee Road through Nakorn Chaisri, Nakorn Phathom, Ban Pong, Tha Muang to Kanchanaburi. Distance is about 130 kms.

By ordinary bus
At the Southern Bus Terminal, bus leaves every 15 minutes from 04.00 - 20.00 hrs. Bus trip takes a bout 3 hours. For more information contact 02 - 434 - 5557 - 8 

By air-conditioned bus
First-class air-conditioned bus leaves the Southern Bus Terminal every 15 minutes from 05.00 - 22.30 hrs. Whereas the second-class air-conditioned bus leaves the terminal every 20 minutes from 05.10-20.30 hrs. The trip takes about 2 hours. The fare is 79 baht per person. By train
Two trains leave Bangkok Noi Railway Station at 07.45 hrs. And 13.45 hrs. Respectively. They stop at Kanchanaburi station. For more informationestimate time is about 3 hours from the station.
